Fair Entries

I completely forgot to post pictures of my ribbons that I won at the fair. I am very happy with it considering I had never entered anything before.

Victorian Star - Laura Perin

Yep, time to start something NEW - as if I don't have enough projects in the pipeline. But, in my defense ... I have nothing on canvas in the works. I like having something to turn to when my eyes get tired and 32 count linen is hard to see.

Berkshire revisited

Just back from the framer who has done a great job with the shadow box.

The door is back ...

I hadn't worked on this in a while because I didn't like the way the porch was coming together. So, in the back of the closet it went. 

In the meantime I had started a couple new projects (as if I really need more WIPs ...) and had almost forgotten about The Berkshire.

A couple nights of tedious, tiny stitches finally finished up the porch and now I get to move on to the ... bricks, which, from the look of the pattern, are going to be just as much work ... they require THREE passes in different threads.

On to brick laying ....

Berkshire Revisited

I made some progress (and I won't tell you how many times I have ripped various sections out!) Let's just put it this way: I had to buy more white Perle Coton. 

Didn't get very far on the door mat last night; the eyes were tired and the Ott Light didn't shine enough said light on my canvas for me to see where I was going.

(Yep, I just noticed that the white sections between the right windows are missing.)

Here's a close-up of the windows beside the door. The shimmery effect is created by adding one ply of Bijoux #460 to the gray floss.

Something Different for a Change

When I was in Indiana last month I was able to pick up my kit of "Berkshire Revisited" that I had signed up for through the local ANG chapter. 

There are a LOT of little stitches, but it's a great piece to work on. I hadn't done much canvas work since I completed the Three Magi so this is fun and easy on the eyes (for the most part).

BOO

The August program of the South Bend EGA chapter was this fun project. Stitched on 18 count mono canvas with DMC threads for the plaid and a glow-in-the-dark Kreinik braid. 

First Magi

The crown is still not attached. That has been kicking my behind ... he might just get a different crown all together, just as the ewer is done in a different stitch as designed.

The coat will get more embellishments and trim, I am guessing that will be done before we move on to King #2.

Magi 1, part 1

This is too much fun and actually works up pretty fast:

I already "got in trouble" with the teacher as we were not supposed to work ahead - something about little bits from the silks transferring to the light brick work ... so far I have not had any problems with that (knock on wood). For me it was just a matter of timing as I want this piece done by Christmas and other stitchings are in line to be worked on.

The Magi

The Shining Needle Society (Yahoo group) offered this Dorothy Lesher piece and after seeing it in person I was hooked.

I've got the brick work done, now it's on to stitching Caspar, Melchior & Balthasar ... not sure which order they are standing in .... Wise Man on the left :-)

Rick Rack Jack

Finished just in time for Halloween, this was our chapter's October class. He gave me a bit of a hard time, but that's just because I can't seem to count very well.

Carolina Lily by Tony Minieri

Another UFO finished. Not sure why I didn't get this one done sooner, there wasn't much left to stitch. The only thing I changed from the pattern was the background. For a white-on-white stitch the pattern was way to complicated. I simply did a 3/4 cross stitch. It gave the empty spaces some texture and I did not go nuts stitching it.

Carolina Lily - Tony Mineri

I had this pattern laying around for some time and found it again a couple of weeks ago, while straightening up some of my stash. Since I hadn't done any needlepoint in quite some time I figured this would be a good piece to get into my rotation ... even though I really don't need yet another unfinished project floating around. Oh well, the more the merrier. At least when I get bored with one piece I can just pull out the next one.

Autumn Quilt

Occasionally I do some needlepoint, or as I like to call it "idiot work". Worked on 18-count mono canvas, these are projects where I don't have to think a whole lot or have to pay too close attention. Long satin stitches cover a lot of ground so these piece usually work up pretty fast.
