I get to show off my stuff

I had talked to the guy at the check-out at our library a couple of weeks back and I mentioned that I would be able to help them fill their display case should they ever need someone.

Wouldn't you know it ... 2 days ago I get a phone call "Could you bring your needlework and display it in April". Yep, on 3/31. Nothing like working under pressure figuring out which pieces would work and then fixing up some labels so people would know what the heck they are looking at.

I grabbed my son to help out and we fixed up the display yesterday afternoon. I must say, I'm a little proud to have my own "showing" ... as if I were some sort of artist LOL

Maybe it will inspire some folks in the community to get their own needles threaded up to "paint with thread".

another antique mall find

very plain - unfinished and undated with the initials CLF

I sewed it to muslin fabric and will lace mount it to acid free mounting board before I take it to the framer (if it gets messed up it's MY fault, not because of someone that doesn't know how to mount needlework).

Priscilla Hardanger Book

I just love antique malls. You just never know what you'll find. Of course I am always on the look-out for some vintage embroidery pieces or anything else stitchery related.

Recently I came upon a 1909 copy of PRISCILLA Hardanger Book, actually more like a booklet, as it only has 48 pages. It is stained, dingy and falling apart, but the pictures are so detailed, no chart is necessary to stitch these wonderful pieces.

Luckily the booklet is old enough and the copyright has expired that I can share some pictures.

Pennsylvania Show Towel

This towel measures 60 inches in length. Unfortunately the majority of that is blank linen. That is the reason why I tacked it under and am only displaying the embroidered top and bottom.
